|I’ve lived a life of enigma and irony. Given how I was “taught” at Sun Microsystems to hate, to attack, and to vanquish the I the B and the M – it is with considerable irony that I’m likely to retire at IBM when the time comes to hang it up.
My road is closer to the end than it is to the beginning, but IBM has continually been a big player in my life. Here’s a few snaps that illustrate IBM’s touch on the world, on my world. Better to let jpegs talk.
No judgments here, just a recognition and a nod to all the “cruft” making up our world – UPC Codes, the Mainframe computer, the IBM Selectric typewriters, the IBM PC, the Winchester disk drive, and on, and on, and on. When you look at the glasses, slide rule, and pocket protector – remember that the slide rule took us to the moon and back.
Note also the “emergency pull” button that every computer needs when things just aren’t going right.
