A Cantic Christmas: A Christmas tale about Citizenship and Immigration

Over sixty years ago, on an upstate New York winter night,  a traveler moved slowly toward the Canadian border station at Cantic, located on the New York / Québec border. 
John Bédard worked 9 years for Canada Immigration, left Canada for the US, became a US citizen, and retired after 20 years as a Senior Inspector for the US Customs Service. He was one of the few US Customs officers qualified to work both customs and immigration issues. He was working this night in 1953.Read his short story below.
