Here’s another joint Alberta / Manitoba / Ontario St. John’s Bulletin from the Spring of 1973. As always, thanks to Bill “Mole” Thomson for finding and scanning this priceless piece of pdf.
The names in the attached are legend. People we have known. People who taught us. People we studied, snowshoed, and canoed with across Canada. I recognize most of the names, having shown up there in the Fall of 1973.
- Yet another documented case of Manitoba kicking some Alberta ass
- Building the Printing Plant in Alberta – how Ted Byfield went full Edmonton Report and mobilized anyone remotely affiliated with the Company of the Cross to work in the plant
- The first mention of new masters – Salway, Salmonson, Corkett, Coates, Cooper
- The building of the Manitoba gym – as in Alberta, more student labour saves the day (more later on this with another bulletin from Westroc)
- Classroom dicta. You get taught the basics. And then there’s a swat test.
- And then there are the people. Martin Denny, at 13, kicking more Alberta butt! Debating champion! Patrick Flanagan taking it (or giving it) to Pierre Elliott Trudeau with the what’s what, and Michael Rizzutto asking hard questions!
