First, I bought the Selectric II. Then came the Selectric I. Then, the IBM Typewriter Model 01. We have at least six typewriters in the house. While some might consider this a Luddite activitity, there’s nothing like the touch, the feel, and the design of these working typewriters.
Neat collection. I went to work for IBM in 1952 and their factory school in Poughkeepsie, NY and the model 01 was the main machine back then, so I worked on a lot of them and yes carbon copies galore! It was a good machine and had a great touch. I will be 90 in June so I quit working on the Selectrics and had 25 of them in my garage just a few years ago, got almost to heavy for me to be lifting them around.

Dick, I’m keeping the population of IBMs down in the house with the help of my wife, but I use my Selectric II daily to capture keystrokes. There’s nothing like the feel of the keyboard. If Steve Jobs could have copied it, he would have. Are you an IBM retiree? Check this link out https://bedard.com/wordpress/my-brain-ibm/
