R v Sheppard, 2021 ABQB 705

Facts are a damn thing.

After the ruling, which I’ve attached below, there was no doubt that Sheppard was going to jail. The only question was for how long.

After reading the Reason for Decision, published by the Honourable Madame Justice D.A. Yungwirth, there can be no doubt of his guilt. None. It’s not a question of opinion, it’s fact.

It’s odd. At the school, I know of no boy who postponed whatever punishment due him for a full two years. In fact, that was the whole concept – pay and move on.

Most of us just took the punishment and moved on. But not Sheppard. He drew it out. We, and any other victims there might be out there, owe Steacey Easton a big thank you for having the courage to come forward and confront this little shitheel of hate.

May he rot. May we forget he ever lived.
